Morel Hunting

Yesterday Mark went out morel hunting, he found enough for us to have morel, spinach and cheddar omelets for dinner last night. I was a little sad and a lot envious that he went out without me. So , when he got home this morning from walking the dogs we went out. Sadly we only found 11 of the elusive mushrooms, but we did spy a mom partridge sitting on her nest.
I zoomed in, it is not very in focus, but I didn't want to get very close or disturb her. She is camouflaged very well to the forest floor. A rare treat!

It's Morel Season!!

Yesterday morning when Mark was walking the dogs he found three morels! We both went out morel hunting late yesterday afternoon. We found enough for me to make a delicious fresh morel risotto for dinner last night. It was fabulous! Yum!
He found these morels this morning, and I sliced them and added them to the gravy of our pot roast for our dinner tonight. They added  wonderful flavour to the gravy!
I am dreaming of finding enough of them, this week to make morel ravioli.. Mmmmm!

Morels!!

Finally after searching for a week, Mark found enough morels to have with our dinner. He found a few yesterday, and we had those sauteed with our scrambled eggs this morning. This afternoon on his walk with the dogs, he found quite a few more. I sauteed them, in a mixture of butter and olive oil, and some minced garlic.

We will have to go back out tomorrow to see if we can find some more. They are out two weeks later this year than last  year.
