Signs of Early Spring

Beautiful weather this past couple of weeks,
the snow in town is almost gone.
I took a walk around the yard
and discovered theses pretty violas
 in the veggie gardens.

Jesse Gets a Hug...

My sister passed away from cancer last spring. She had fought very hard to be here for the birth of her son's first child. Sadly she wasn't here for the birth of Jesse in August.
My brother in law brought me some of her clothes in the summer. I am using what I can, but wanted to weave three Debbie memory rugs for him, and for my niece and nephew.
I finished two of the rugs on Sunday, just on time to deliver them to my niece and nephew in the city.
I got home yesterday to find this lovely photo in my inbox. Sweet baby Jesse sound asleep under the memory rug, getting a hug from his Grandma Debbie.

My Left Knee

On Halloween night I had a scheduled follow up appointment with the surgeon who operated on my right knee in July. Two weeks earlier I hurt my left knee at my physio appointment. My family doctor sent a note to the surgeon to examine my left knee. Turns out, I torn the meniscus in it to. Lucky for me, the surgeon had a cancellation here in Terrace and fit me in. I had surgery last Tuesday.
I am still hobbling about, still housebound, actually still trapped on the main floor of our house, I am not yet doing stairs. This is the first day I actually feel human again. Yay my knee is healing!!!
Dr. Porter did say that the injuries in both knees were from degeneration and I do have a bigger issue, arthritis in both knees. I will never walk for fitness again, and will only go for short strolls. What a dismal thing to say, truly I am not that old, only at midlife. I will have to figure this out once my knee heals. I will deal with the arthritis and find a way that I can get some exercise.
Life does go on!

This Sad Life

I got home a few days ago, from a trip away. My sister and I traveled to southern Ontario for the funeral of my cousin, his wife and son. It has been a very sad couple of weeks.
Heading out of Toronto on a Greyhound bus... life is a blur..
Left behind are two young adults, young university students.
Life will be hard for them. There has been a trust fund set up. If anyone is interested in donating to it, for them, please contact me for info.

Life

A week ago today, we received one of those much dreaded phone calls. Mark's mom had had a heart attack. She was in the hospital on the Island. She is alright, she had two stents put in and is back home, after being transferred to Sudbury. Yesterday, Marks brother was on the Island, visiting his parents, and had a heart attack after shoveling snow. He has been transferred to Sudbury, and had two stents put in last night. From what I understand, he will be kept in until Wednesday, but is doing well. I hope he is doing well. Earlier this fall, Marks eldest brother had his second heart attack, and had three stents put in. He is recovering and already back to work. Scary stuff...family history, and genetics....
It has been one hell of a week, well one hell of a year.

This morning we drove Thomas to Thunder Bay to the airport. He flew to Calgary this afternoon. He will head back to B.C. from there in a day or two. We are hoping he will be back home for Christmas. It was sure nice having him home for a month, it just flew by.
Hehe, speaking of flying by, the trees were flying by on our drive home. Mark couldn't understand why I was taking so many pictures... I love the flow and movement of the unfocused trees....
I am hoping 2009 will be a happier, less stressful year.

Red... Balls of Blue

Weird name for a pair of earrings maybe... it fit at the time.
My listing of the day....

...the day, deafening quiet here today. I miss Lu's funny breathing he developed from his tumors. The house was too quiet for my liking. I miss him so much.

red.... balls of blue

We heard this morning that an old family friend passed away yesterday. It feels like never ending sadness.

Littlebit aka Lu

I am really sad to write that we lost our beloved Lu this morning.
He fought a tough battle with cancer, he was a strong cat.
We will miss him dearly.

Sonja..........

I have not posted for a bit. Life keeps interrupting.
I lost a dear friend on Monday. Her death came unexpectedly, and has thrown us over the abyss. She was young, beautiful, intelligent and loved life! She had exquisite taste and had an eye for decorating. She strived for excellence. She was a much loved educator, and will be sadly missed by many.
Our common bond was a passion for cooking, reading cookbooks, recipes....
Sonja I do hope you are at peace....

Her brother said to me...life carries on, and yes it does whether we are ready for it or not.

I posted this pretty pair of earrings in my Etsy shop this morning. They are made with a gorgeous vintage glass saucer shaped bead, blue and white speckled, paired with pretty pastel green matt frosted glass beads. Fun loving and full of life!!
