grey .... and some

This morning my sister and her husband came from the city to pick blueberries. We were gone for hours and picked a lot of them. I picked 5 baskets full, my personal best for this summer. They are however getting a little soft and squishy, maybe they have had a touch of frost.
When we got home I was very pleased to find my treasury on the front page of Etsy. Always a thrill! I hope all the talented artisans involved get many many hearts and sales from this exposure!

Shades of Autumn...

Yesterday, after what feels like forever, I wove a rug. It is a gorgeous autumn coloured recycled t-shirt rug. I love it, and I am very happy to be weaving again.

Tim's Goblet and My Earrings!

Last week I splurged on two of Tim Alexanders goblets. I had a mission when I was looking for them, I am using them to stage my jewelry to photograph it. This one has many different shades and hues on it, so it will work with many different colours. I am very pleased with my purchases!

Blood Orange....

Busy days!
My Aunt is here visiting with us for a couple of weeks. We will all be celebrating my Aunt and Uncles 60th wedding anniversary this weekend.
We were hoping to get out blueberry picking this week, but they are not quite ripe enough, they should be ready next week.
I listed this gorgeous pearl necklace in my Etsy shop this evening!

Juicy Meatloaf

I promised to give this recipe to my cousin Gary, who stopped here overnight a week or so ago. So Gary, here it is, enjoy!

Juicy Meatloaf

4 slices rye bread, or whatever kind of bread you have
1 cup water
1 medium onion, chopped
1 tbsp. parsley
3 tbsp. parmesan cheese
1 lb. ground beef (lean)
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. oregano
6 oz. tomato sauce
1 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. salt

1. Preheat oven to 375 F.
2. Pour water over bread in a shallow quart casserole. When soft, break it up finely with a fork.
3. Combine with onion, parsley, cheese, beef, egg, salt, pepper and oregano. Mix well. Pat down flat.
4. Mix the tomato sauce with the chili powder, garlic and salt. Pour over the top of the meat.
5. Bake for 60 to 90 minutes, or until the meat is cooked all the way through and is no longer pink.

( I usually make 1 1/2 times the recipe or I double it, to have leftovers to make grilled meatloaf and cheese sandwiches, and then to add the leftover meatloaf to mac and cheese.)

Red Copper Swirlies

I am slowly getting back into the swing of things here.
Thomas left yesterday, and he arrived in B.C. this morning. Glad he got there safely. It was really nice to have him home.
I just listed this lovely little pair of earrings. I love these vintage ribbed wood beads, I have them in black as well as the red. I love how they work with the copper!

Thin Finn Pancakes

Last night one of my cousins stopped in for an overnight visit on his way back out to B. C., from a visit to his daughter in southern Ontario. This morning I baked some thick sliced bacon, and made thin Finn pancakes for breakfast. I served them with nectarine slices, wow was it a yummy breakfast. I do not make breakfast very often, so it's a treat when I do. Here's the recipe!

Thin Finn Pancakes

2 eggs
1 tsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1 cup buttermilk
2 tbsp. melted butter
1 cup flour (unbleached)
Butter for frying

Beat eggs and sugar together, add the salt, buttermilk, melted butter and flour. (I put everything in the blender.) Let stand for at least an hour before cooking the pancakes. Heat a cast iron frying pan, and butter it well. Cook on both sides until golden.
Serve with butter, maple syrup, brown sugar or fruit. It is your choice. Use your imagination!
